Incorporating literacy in P.E.

Going back to when I was in elementary school there would be a series of games we played with the gigantic map of the United States. Asking questions, it was up to the students to see how quickly they can get to the state or area on the map that corresponded with the correct answer. This was a game appreciated by most and was an excellent way in testing geographical knowledge while incorporating physical fitness in a fun situation.

thats pretty interesting...i was thinking a lot about it and i dont remember there ever being a time in PE where i used literacy, and if we did it was not important enough to remember OR it didnt help me. But now they are coming up with ways in which literacy can be used not only to help those who already know how to read BUT also to help those who dont not know. Children have a lot of pent up energy and it is hard for them to sit still in classrooms for long periods of time, so getting the kids up moving and learning seems to be a new and effective way of teaching literacy in PE
