Memories of Reading
I don't remember much about learning how to read. What i do remember is being terrified to be called on to be read out loud because i was not a very good reader. As i went through grammar school my reading skills were not where they should have been. I remember reading short books with easy words and many pictures. My parents tried their best to get me to read but there was nothing that interested me. Finally when i was seven or eight my parents started buying me kids sports magazines which i enjoyed reading. I never got into reading books but i have always enjoyed reading the sports section of the news paper, and magazines

That kind of reading is also important. More men than women prefer shorter reading -- magazines, newspaper, websites, etc. Why do you think this might be the case?
I always enjoyed the ideal of reading. Personally, I feel as though that I read better to myself than outloud. I remember learning to read at a young age but like Brian it was short books. Reading short books helped me to read and understand what I read because it was short. Also, I loved having pictures in books, usually I would see the picture first then read the book, hoping to understand the picture better.
To Danas comment, I beleive that men do prefer shorter reading simply because the ideal of being a short piece give them confidence that they can finish and remember what they read. Men have a short attention span, just get straight to the point and thats it! no?
